Biography
Jérôme Bernard, "sansjambiste" to his friends, has two children, a family and a group of friends who are always there to support him in his more or less reasonable goals :)
A minor life incident caused him to lose both legs and one arm at the age of nine. In 1984, we might as well be talking about prehistory in terms of braces, and the means to find out what was feasible.
He took up sport at the age of 20, with precious help from his family to make his own special "feet". Feet for cycling, for skiing...
Thanks to these, he completed four stages of the Tour, two in the Ariege and two in Albi, and crossed countless mountain passes by bike. He discovered skiing at the age of 25, when a friend made him special feet (again ;) ) and disability was no longer a problem.
The arrival of carbon blades has enabled him to run for several years now, on the road for 10km and with a marathon objective, which would be a first for a tripple amputee. On the track, with two sprint seasons in 100mn 200m (PR in 26.01) and 400m (PR in 60.01). He is behind the Hopper project, which, thanks to Salomon and Airbus, makes sport more accessible for amputees.
In 2021, Jérôme created the Oz'moov association to help neo-amputees prove through sporting and human challenges that life has only just begun.
