What exactly is "GORE-TEX" (GORE-TEX shoes, jackets, pants, etc.) ?

GORE-TEX products are waterproof, breathable and wind resistant products. The GORE-TEX membrane is characterized by high-performance fabrics which are used in many waterproof products that we offer at Salomon. In short, GORE-TEX is made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is a synthetic thermoplastic polymer. It is interesting to know that this fabric is extremely tightly woven which makes it waterproof, but also at the same time air can pass through and breathability is guaranteed.
