Perfekte Form / Schlechte Verarbeitung

Excellent boots
Really happy with these, great fit and good support. Stiffness is just right. Boot itself seems very durable, but I had minor issues with the Boa cords fraying after about 50 days riding (never had this with steel cable Boa) so a mark off for this, but the cords are quickly and easily replaced.
Great heel hold, not sure what's going on with the other dude!

Good concept, terrible execution, ZERO heel hold
This boot had a lot of promise. It's decently stiff when tightened up, the liner is decent quality, and materials seem like they would be durable.
However, there is a MASSIVE flaw in this boot that makes it impossible to recommend. The harness for the liner uses a heel strap (yellow) attached to the shell that is simply entirely too long (US size 10.5). When tightened up, the heel strap is visibly loose, and provides exactly zero heel hold. It's really disappointing, because all they would have needed to do to fix this issue is shorten the strap by about an inch or two such that it could actually be tightened. As it stands, this issue nearly completely ruins the functionality of this boot for anything but very casual riding. The only solution is to tighten the boa as tight as it will go to provide some sort of heel hold, but even then it's far inferior to far less expensive boots, even other boots within the Salomon line that use a traditional lacing system for the liner.
I didn't realize what was happening until I had already used the boots, otherwise I would return them because they are a complete waste of money, especially for a "premium" boot. I'll be looking for a more functional better quality boot next year from another manufacturer.
