Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good first outing I finally unpacked these beautiful looking hybrid hikers, I'm familiar with this type of lacing system from my snowboard boots so it was easy to adjust a comfortable fit on the first shot. Immediately the lightness was apparent so off to my local coastal trail I went with much enthusiasm, initially grip was great on the mostly descending trail it wasn't till I got on the rock part of the trail is where I think more ankle support could be used as the very uneven, and unstable, surfaces stretched the limits of this shoe. I also noticed that tiny stones can easily be funneled in and thus having to stop for emptying small debris, but that was minimal. Off the rock and onto ascending dirt is where this hiker shined so overall I'm pleased with these and look forward to more miles!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy... except, I do wish there was one more lace point at the ankle. They tend to loosen. An I’m concerned about pulling too tightly and breaking the laces or mechanism.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missed the mark I received these this past Christmas. I was very excited to have a set of hiking shoes that would keep my feet dry. My other Salomon Speed Cross 4 do not have Gore-Tex technology and my feet would always get wet. This is pretty much where the excitement ended. I assumed these were exactly like the Speed Cross shoes but in a high top. The sizing on these is different that the Speed Cross shoes. I wear a size 10 but these fit almost like a 10.5 or 11 wide. There’s too much room in them and my feet move around quite a bit. I also do not care for the lacing system in these even though I love the quick lace system in other Salomons. I feel there should be at least one more anchor point at the tongue area. These shoes do not stay tight. I like the sole on these as they provide great grip and I like the Gore-Tex technology. I feel like Salomon missed the mark on what could have been a great compromise between a hiking boot and low top hiking shoe. I would pass on buying these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good. I bought these less than a week ago and have been on 3 different hikes and put almost 20 miles on them. The lacing system took a little bit of getting used to, but I like the speed and convenience. On my snowy hike yesterday I had more traction than any other hiker on the trail, and my feet stayed perfectly dry. I am concerned about durability after seeing all the problems others have had, but so far mine are doing great.
