Courtney Dauwalter's new Dawn to Dusk collection celebrates ultra-trail running from first light to darkness. Inspired by her legendary 2023 Triple Crown season—when she became the first runner, male or female, to win the Western States 100, Hardrock 100, and UTMB® in a single season—this limited edition range combines technical performance with authentic design.
The Minnesota native has dominated ultra-trail running since joining Salomon in 2017. Her résumé speaks for itself: course records at Western States 100 and multiple wins across the world's most demanding races, including Hardrock 100, Mount Fuji 100, UTMB®, Grand Raid de la Réunion, Transgrancanaria, and Ultra-Trail Cape Town®. In 2023, she made history. In 2024, she continued her dominance with top finishes across major ultras. Now, in 2026, she's preparing for Cocodona 250, Chianti 120, and Hardrock 100—a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence.
The Idea Behind the Collection
"The idea for Dawn to Dusk originated out on a run, like most good ideas do. It's an appreciation of both the big moments and huge adventures, and the small moments and daily dedication," Courtney explains.
The collection reflects the full cycle of an ultra: starting in darkness, moving through light, returning to night. Upside-down mountains and gradient hues symbolize the unknown exploration and natural transformation experienced throughout a full day in the mountains. Every piece carries intention—designed not just for performance, but for the mental and emotional journey of pushing limits.
Before her first 100-mile finish, Courtney's mother gave her a card with a peace sign coin and a note that read: "You're stronger than you think!" That coin became her talisman through every race since. Now, that peace sign, transformed into Courtney's initials, appears on the Shortney collection alongside the quote that changed everything. It's a reminder that belief, however small, can carry you through the toughest moments.
