Biography
Romed Baumann fell in love with skiing at the tender age of three and never looked back. After debuting on the World Cup in 2004, he quickly specialized in the speed disciplines and combined races. While competing for Austria, he won two World Championships medals, a silver in the 2011 Team Event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and a bronze in the Combined in Schladming, Austria two years later. He competed for the Austrian Ski team for 15 years before switching to the German team in 2019. The change in nationality proved to be the perfect source of motivation and helped him rediscover his joy for the sport. He quickly earned back a spot among the 10 best speed skiers in the world, and in 2021 he won a silver medal in the super G race at the World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The result is a historic one for Germany, and the first time a skier won medals at the World Championships for two different countries.
