Biography
Italian speed specialist Francesca Marsaglia was born in Rome into a very sporty family which encouraged her to play sports from an early age. While her mom’s sport of choice would have been tennis, a more “straightforward” choice given the family’s location, it was her father’s ski coaching influence that prevailed. Following her older brother Matteo’s footsteps, Francesca developed a passion for the speed disciplines, and ever since her World Cup debut in 2008 she has been regularly competing with the best skiers in the world. Unfortunately, she also frequently found herself sidetracked by injuries, but every seatback became just a new opportunity to excel in her sport. She is a true fighter who never tires of finding her way back to the slopes, and in 2019 her perseverance finally paid off big time as she skied the race of a lifetime and earned her first World Cup podium in Lake Louise, Canada.
