Great shoes but poor insoles
Really comfortable shoe with good grip over most terrains, except thick mud. Excellent all-rounder and ideal for road to trail runs. Only one big issue is the insoles which fit really poorly and move about in the shoe. After each run the insoles had slid back causing a ridge at the front which was uncomfortable and rubbed against the foot. Swapped them out with insoles from another shoe and they’re fine.

Size and grip issue
I’m normally 12.5, bought those and they were too small so I had to buy 13.5. They’re slightly too big but I’ve run in them now so can’t return them (I thought they would be ok). I will use them for training runs. Compared to Speedcross these obviously have less grip due to 3mm lugs instead of 5 but it made a surprisingly big difference on wet mud. Other than that happy and they will do a lot of kms.

Overall good, but let down by poor outsole grip
I have just passed the 200 km mark with on these Pulsar Trail shoes (GoreTex version) and I am generally happy about the comfort, lockdown, waterproofness and stability of the shoe while trail running. There are no major issues with the upper, lacing system or midsole (which could be a touch more compliant), however the main issue of the outsole rubber. This is not good in the wet and tends to get quite slippery on rocks and even paving when running. The compound seems to be quite hard, but this is not the case as there is already excessive wear at the front of the shoe even before 200 km. Seems like a hard one to overcome in terms of design, but some parts of the outsole need to be softer while others (toe and heel) need to be harder rather than making the whole sole from the same type of rubber. Also, the finish (unless in tended) of the outsole is rather shoddy and has a lot of overlapping colour sections rather than neat lines where the colours of the outsole change.

Great as everday or as trail shoes.
Brilliant shoes, with Salomon delivering everything everything I have grown to love about their products.
My first Salomon shoes were bought in Germany, for walking and day to day use. They were fantastic in fit, design, comfort, colour, technical spec and wear and tear. I have been a bit of a loyal customer ever since, only once disappointed by a design change that did not fit my feet.
These look good and feel great. Even the little pocket on the tongue to tick away the quick pull fasten system pleases me.
Heartily recommended.
