Perfection At Every Turn – Marta Bassino Claims Super G World Championships Gold!
Italian skier Marta Bassino put on a dominant performance to win the gold medal in the Super G race at the FIS Ski World Championships in Courchevel/Meribel.
The victory marks Bassino's first gold medal at these World Championships and further establishes her as one of the top skiers in the world. The Salomon Family is thrilled with this result and will be looking forward to seeing Bassino ski in the giant slalom, her dominant discipline, next week.
The 26-year-old, who won the GS World Cup Crystal Globe in 2021, held back up top before mastering the course's tricky, technical lower half – a challenge that clearly suited her.
“"I'm so excited because it was really hard to watch all the girls after me because I lost a lot of time the first part but then I think I did really great in the last part," the new champion, who won parallel slalom gold two years ago, said in the finish area. "It's still a little bit unbelievable," she added. ”

The success of Bassino wasn't the only highlight of the day, as two other Salomon skiers also finished in the top 10. Alice Robinson came in 7th, only 21 hundredths of a second away from the podium, while Michelle Gisin finished 10th. This strong showing by Salomon skiers demonstrated their competitiveness and skill on the slopes.
Today was only day 3 of competitions at the World Championships, and Marta's gold, hopefully simply the first of the Blue Team's medals.
