Prepare for the worst, hope for the best is an old alpinists’ saying that works pretty well for pretty much all winter mountain sports where a lost screw or a broken ratchet in bad weather can mean a long, cold walk down the mountain. A small repair kit can be lightweight and easy to carry and might contain screws for discs, an adjustment ladder and ratchet for snowboard bindings, and a few highback screws. All of this is lightweight, compact and ridiculously easy to carry in a pocket, and this along with a good multitool should keep you on your board and riding for all but the worst equipment failures.
