Biography
Valentin Giraud-Moine experienced the highest high, and lowest low of his career in the span of a week – one day he was celebrating a podium finish on the famous Streif in Kitzbuehel, Austria, and just days later he suffered a near career-ending injury in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Despite the initial gloomy prognosis, he managed the unthinkable – made a full recovery and got back on his skis only nine months after shattering his knees. With two downhill World Cup podium finishes and a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior World Championships in Quebec, Canada, to his name, in 2021 he said goodbye to the sport he loves after 13 years as a member of the French National ski team. Despite all his patience, efforts, and outstanding comeback on the slopes, he was never able to regain the full range of his physical and mental capacities and come back to competing for the top spots he had been chasing before that dramatic crash.
