What is GORE-TEX Shakedry™?

In both racing and training, nothing, not even pouring rain with a headwind, is going to stop you. A jacket with GORE-TEX Shakedry™ technology is a soft, ultralight, and breathable garment that guarantees you’ll stay dry and protects you from the wind even in the worst weather conditions.

GORE-TEX Shakedry™ uses the same basic principle as Gore-Tex® membrane with more than 1.4 billion microscopic pores per square centimeter. These pores are smaller than a drop of water but larger than a water vapor molecule, which means this durable membrane blocks rainwater while allowing moisture to escape.

GORE-TEX Shakedry™ is the only technology that uses the GORE-TEX® membrane as the exterior surface of the garment. This extremely minimalist design results in ultralight, highly packable garments with rain and wind protection without sacrificing performance. But for those who need increased abrasion resistance and don’t mind a bit more weight, we recommend jackets with GORE-TEX Paclite® technology.

How does GORE-TEX Shakedry™ work?

For the first time, GORE-TEX Shakedry™ products feature the GORE-TEX® membrane as the outer surface of the garment. This unique design results in a permanent, water-repellent surface that also prevents water from being absorbed. Rain beads on the surface of the garment and a simple shake removes almost all the droplets.

The absence of exterior fabric, as well as a separate interior lining enables GORE-TEX Shakedry™ to be extremely light. Interior material is laminated to the membrane to protect the garment and ensure its durability.
