Salomon Nordic, May 16, 2017; ANNECY, FRANCE – In yet another sign that the Salomon Nordic program is continuing its climb toward being a leading player on World Cup Nordic circuits, the team announced today that two highly decorated Norwegian athletes will join its ranks. Sjur Røthe and Erlend Bjøntegaard will both use a full Salomon equipment package of skis, boots and bindings.

“We are really happy to welcome these two new Norwegian athletes to the team. We’ve been working for a long time with Sjur on the boots, so it’s a pleasure for our racing and development team to continue to work with him on three products—skis, boots and bindings,” said Francis Repellin, Salomon Nordic Business Unit Manager. “We are moving step by step in biathlon and athletes from major countries are joining the team. Erlend Bjøntegaard will be the second athlete from the Norwegian national team after Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen.  We’ve tested and exchanged a lot this spring with both of Sjur and Erlend, and I’m sure they will fit perfectly with the family spirit existing between our athletes on the World Cup Circuit.”

WHAT THE ATHLETES SAID

2013 relay world champion

2015 Oslo 50Km winner

“I have been using Salomon boots as long as I can remember, and it's an honor for me to finally be a full member of the Salomon team. For me Salomon represents a professional and innovative company. Since I started my skiing career I have been impressed by how the company always wants to improve. The main reason I made the switch to Salomon was the S/Lab classic skis. The feeling I get in the uphill and how easy it is to get a good grip is amazing. The stability on the S/Lab Carbon skating skis was also important for my choice.

The classic boots I was using for years gives me now an even better feeling in combination with the Salomon skis and bindings. I aim for this season at being on a top level and win a medal at the Olympic Games in PyeongChang. I expect to always have great skis to reach this goal.”

3-time top 10 in IBU Biathlon World Cup

“I’ve decided to switch to Salomon because the S/Lab Carbon skis felt damn good. I have seen the good progress Salomon have made the past years. With good results and good athletes, it is hard not to notice Salomon’s growing position in both cross country and biathlon. The equipment is of very big importance in biathlon. Having skis that makes me confident and fits my way of skiing is without a doubt important. With Salomon boots and skis on my feet, it`s all up to me! Vetle (Salomon athlete Sjåstad Christiansen) is a good friend of mine, and he had nothing but good things to say about Salomon skis.”
