Comfortable, Warm, & Light Weight
I love Salomon's highest quality high cut summer and winter hiking boots! I have used them for over 10 years for hiking or mountain biking usually 5 to 6 days a week in the mountains. I love the comfort of their softer than usual pads, the lighter than average weight, especially when climbing mountains, and the extra warmth of their winter boots! I like to own three pairs at a time – one for summer, one for average winter cold, and one that is three sizes larger for extreme cold in the mountains of northern Utah. To the latter pair, I add two pairs of four ply merino wool socks. I recently tested my largest boots by standing in an ice cream company's freezer at 27° below zero Fahrenheit for one hour and 15 minutes. My toes stayed warm for about an hour then got cold but not freezing cold. I also tested another company’s winter boot with 800 grams of thinsulate. My toes got cold at 15° ABOVE zero. Salomon has fixed the problem of the laces coming undone with a lace hook that snaps the lace in place.

Very warm but very Stiff
Keep in mind they are new but they are as stiff as a skiing or snowboarding boot. I am not certain if a leather conditioner will help and all new boots need to break in but dang. I used them for about 9 hours at work and my calves have bruises. Other then that they are a great boot and very warm , waterproof, and the foot bed is comfortable. Im not sure I can get past the stiffness though. They may just go back to the store I got them from.

Wow!
I'm really picky when it comes to my feet. I was looking for warm, reliable, rugged winter boots that would last more than a couple years. I read many reviews and I was not disappointed! Great for all outdoor activities that require a warm durable boot, highly recommend!
