Salomon athlete Markéta Davidová

wins gold medal at Biathlon World Championships

Markéta Davidová is a biathlon world champion. On Tuesday, at the IBU World Championship at Pokljuka, Slovenia,  the 24-year-old Czech athlete skiing for Team Salomon took her career to new  heights winning the 15km individual race in 42:27.7. It was her second career win and first World Championship medal.

Davidová skied great and shot perfectly, going 20-for-20 on the shooting range, which made her too difficult to catch. She managed to keep her nerves until the final shot, then willed the last bullet on target and skied her last lap to victory, winning by 27.9 second.

“It is so nice to win; I am really happy,”she said. “I do not know (how I shot 20-for-20). I think I was really lucky today because they were not middle hits, I think, so I was lucky.”
