Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 3rd pair of Speedcross shoes...best yet My family and I have owned multiple pairs of the SPEEDCROSS 3, 4 and now 5 and have loved each one! They are incredibly versatile shoes! My kids run cross country meets in them. My wife does cross training and I weight train/coach lacrosse in them. Not to mention, they are exceptionally stylish and we get compliments & questions about them every time we wear them casually. The SPEEDCROSS 5s are a great evolution of previous versions where the fit seems more tailored out of the box and the speed lacing system is even more refined. We are Salomon customers for life and look forward to the adventures ahead with all our products from them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 5 stars for the speedcross 5 but the color is.... The speedcross shoes are an outstanding shoe. The rubber soles do not hold up so well on concrete or asphalt but on turf they are super aggressive and perfect trail traction shoes. The tan and black color I ordered has a “very” pink tinge to it. Still great shoes and once they dirty up a little you don’t notice it but just accessorize accordingly :) (All other colors have been per their photo) They run a little small I’ve order a half size larger than my normal shoes (11 in my running sneakers and 11.5 in Speedcross ) and this seems to be the right fit. They are also a little narrow but they offer a wide version as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 4 vs.5 Loved my 4's! 9 fit perfect for my every other day or do so CT trail running & Mount Washington NH hikes (6 last year). They did wear out faster than expected. I was told by Salomon rep 9 would be best in 5 series. Overall they fit much looser since toe box is wider & made of more flexible mesh. It may be my imagination, but I have slipped on wet rocks more in 2 MW hikes than all last year year. Different composites? Overall they're too floppy for me since I prefer narrower, sturdier, & less flexible toe box. Plus they seem tad too long. I should have half-sized down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Back to Speedcross 4 After about 10 pairs of Speedcross 4 (I am a fan :)) I bought the new Speedcross 5. I run only trail, mostly 'technical' (roots, rocks, mud) with some elevation change, 30 to 50 miles per week. I noticed right away that the "5" had a different topside, much looser, much more of a 'glove feeling' than the "4". Last weekend I ran the Bryce Canyon 50K and the 'lock' to tie the shoes came lose on the downhill. Probably a faulty lock, no big deal. I kept it in place by tying my shoes 'the old fashioned way'. However : the looser upper give much less support on the downhill and I felt my feet sliding (a bit) in the shoes. The Speedcross 4 has a more rigid upper, feels narrower, and as a result gives more support. I came home and bought 2 more pairs of "4" before they are discontinued. As long as you can choose between the 4 and 5, know that the 5 gives less support. Otherwise the shoes are comparable. Go Salomon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Savage Trail-Running Shoes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] About a month ago, I bought my first pair of Salomon Speedcross 5’s. During my time of ownership, I’ve been thrilled by the comfort, tread, support, and durability of these shoes! They have amazing grip for trail runs. I bought them in black, so any dirt I get on them easily washes off, leaving the shoes looking like new. The laces are very simple and secure. The build quality is nothing short of perfection. I expect they will last for at least 1000 miles. Overall, they’re like having ultra-lightweight tank tracks on your feet! I will definitely buy these again and again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sturdy shoes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes are amazing! They have incredible grip but don’t feel like wearing cleats. I think the best feature of these shoes are the quick laces and the stretchy pouch in the tongue to store the lace. The extra padding on the tongue means the laces can be pulled quite tight and yet don’t put any pressure on the bridge of my foot, which is a typical issue I have with my foot shape. These are my new favorites, and yes they work just fine on pavement, although I think my Altras handle flat road running better; snow and slick terrain are no match for the speedcross though. Great shoes for me with no complaints yet!
