BEST OLYMPICS SO FAR FOR SALOMON NORDIC, SALOMON PLAYS AT THE HEART OF THE SPORT

Our athletes came back from Pyeongchang 2018 with 16 medals, including 4 gold medals who were the first ones for Salomon Nordic skis. In Sochi 2014 our athletes won 2 medals.

Wilhelm Denifl, Simon Desthieux, Jessie Diggins, Jean Marc Gaillard, Lukas Klapfer, Erik Lesser, Maurice Manificat, Jesper Nelin, Marte Olsbu, Clement Parisse, Sebastian Samuelsson, Jan Schmid

3 different disciplines:

7 medals in biathlon, 5 in cross country, 4 in nordic combined

Norway, Sweden, Germany, USA, France, Austria

PYEONGCHANG TOP 5 STORIES

1. Jessie Diggins became the first women American to become Olympic medalist in XC ski!

After 3 individual races in the top 6, US skier Jessie Diggins was putting all her energy into the relay and team sprint which have always a special signification to the US ski team.She raced the team sprint with her team mate Kikkan Randall and started the last leg in the leading group with Sweden and Norway. Showing amazing shape and great skis, she was able to take the advantage in the final sprint to offer her the Olympic title!It’s her first Olympic medal after 4 medals at World Championships in 2013, 2015 & 2017.

2. Swedish young guns success in biathlon!

Sebastian Samuelsson was the revelation of these Olympics in biathlon. Born in 1997, the Swedish biathlete was already Rookie of the Year in 2017 on the IBU World Cup.Finishing 13th in the sprint, he came back in 2nd position in the pursuit to become silver medalist. He finished also 4th in the individual, few second off the podium. But his best memory from Pyeongchang will be for sure the victory in relay with the Swedish team, where Jesper Nelin also skiing on Salomon skis was also part of the team.

3. French relay & team sprint

Maurice Manificat came in Korea with a clear objective to win an individual medal. Despite two good races on the skiathlon and the individual 15km, he missed twice the medal for a few second and got two 5th position.In the relay, 3 skiers out of 4 were skiing on Salomon. Gaillard, Manificat skied the two first leg in classic and Parisse the first one in skating. They finally took the bronze medal. Manificat added another bronze medal in the team sprint where he showed that he can also fight against the sprinters on track.

4. Simon Desthieux Olympic gold medal

French biathlete Simon Desthieux went in Pyeongchang for his second Olympics after Sochi 4 years ago. He was close to win an individual medal, finishing 7th in the pursuit. On the mixed relay, he shot clean and skied fast to give the last exchange on the leading group. Clean shooting was key for the French athletes as three of them didn’t miss any targets. Simon will have big hopes for the last world cup period, where he could finish the season among the top 6 overall.

5. Marte Olsbu twice medalist

Norwegian biathlete Marte Olsbu started the Olympics with a silver medal on the sprint. She was close to make it again on the pursuit, finishing fourth. She signed another solid result in the mass start finishing 8th. With her team mates, she completed her medal collection finishing 2nd in the mixed relay. These results confirm the potential she showed previously this season on the world cup.
