Best winter boot ever!
I read so many reviews and needed to buy the best safest winter boot, as a letter carrier in Winnipeg Manitoba, you need the warmest, driest, safest boot! I found it! And it’s pretty!

Not warm
They are comfortable. The grip is decent (not trail runners good, but good enough). Sizing is perfect. I'm a size 7. Bought a 7. They fit with space for double socks. They are waterproof indeed.
Unfortunately, they are not warm. I have been hiking in them all week and every time the temperature goes between 5 degrees celcius and zero, the entire soles of my feet start to feel so very cold after about an hour outside. I've only had them for a week, so it's not because they are old. Plus, i wear a pair of lightweight thermal socks AND a pair of thick marino wool socks. Either I got a defective pair or the company's information is misleading. Either way, I'm now still searching for winter hiking boots, which sucks because these are really comfortable when my feet aren't freezing.

I thought they were great BUT
I love how light and warm these are. And how they adjust to activity level, so my feet are never too sweaty in shoulder seasons. But…
I wore them only 2-3 times per week the last two winters, and I noticed the side seam nearest the toe box on the outside of each boot has separated. The white waterproof lining is visible! I took them to a professional cobbler to see if they could be fixed. The only thing he could do is leather patch them and it wasn’t worth it. He said the same thing that I had thought in my head — “why would anyone put a seam there?”
I am going to try to fill the space with shoe-goo to get more life from them. Maybe I expected too much from them. Salomon has a decent warranty, but it happened just outside that window.
Buy them armed with this knowledge. You might experience the same during your third season. Hope not, though!
