Salomon’s trail athletes kicked off the first weekend of summer in unforgettable style, lighting up courses from the French Alps to the American West. With seasoned champions leading the way and new talents rising fast, our team made a powerful statement at Marathon du Mont Blanc, Lavaredo Ultra Trail, and Western States 100. Here’s a look at standout performances.
Mont Blanc Marathon Weekend — Chamonix, France
Cross du Mont Blanc (23 km – Saturday)
- In an impressive display for Salomon on home trails, Nashon Kiplimo surged to victory in the men’s race while teammate Simon Paccard claimed second place—a commanding one-two finish that set an early tone for the weekend.
- On the women’s side, Faith Kiplagat triumphed with a commanding win.
Marathon du Mont Blanc (42 km – Sunday)
- Women: Joyline Chepngeno, 1st; Naomi Lang, 3rd; Sophia Laukli, 9th
- Men: Ezekiel Rutto, 4th; Valentin Marchon (Salomon Switzerland), 5th; Ryunosuke "Ryu" Omi, 7th
90 km du Mont-Blanc (Friday)
- Julie Roux (Salomon France) secured an impressive second-place finish on her ultra-distance debut.
- Ramon Manetsh (Salomon Switzerland) placed fifth.
Lavaredo Ultra Trail — 120 km – Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
Courtney Dauwalter opened her season with a signature performance, taking 1st place in 14 hours and 42 minutes. Racing through the jagged peaks of the Dolomites, she once again proved why she’s a legend of the sport—combining tactical pacing with relentless drive. This win marks another milestone in her exceptional career and sets the tone for what’s to come.
Western States Endurance Run — 100 miles (160km) – California, USA
Delivering her best-ever result at Western States—and capping months of focused preparation—Marianne Hogan, supported by pacer Mathieu Blanchard (two-time UTMB podium finisher) battled soaring temperatures to secure third place on one of ultrarunning's most iconic courses. Meanwhile, Fiona Pascall rounded out a strong women’s showing with fifth place - Johanna Antila took twelfth—a solid outing for Salomon stateside.
A Podium on Every Stage
From Chamonix to California, and everywhere between, at least one Salomon athlete reached every podium last weekend. The results highlight exceptional depth across established stars and emerging talent within our women’s squad especially, but also showcase shared energy and unmistakable camaraderie wherever our teams compete together.
And the Wins Keep Coming
Later during the week, on Thursday, July 3, Miao Yao powered through technical Pyrenean trails to claim first place in the CDH (50 km) at Val d’Aran by UTMB® in Spain. Her victory adds yet another podium for Salomon during this action-packed stretch of summer racing, with many more in sight.
