Salomon's heritage as a ski binding leader dates back to the late 1950s, when the company designed a replacement for the leather straps that previously held feet to alpine skis. Since then—through the design of countless bindings that have revolutionized the ski industry in various ways—the safety of skiers has been woven into the fabric of our winter sports DNA. That is why, today, we have decided to proceed with a recall of one of our bindings. Following reports from several retailers and our own technical investigation, we have identified an issue in the toe piece of one production batch of the Salomon MTN touring bindings.
Following the prompts below will help determine if the MTN binding you own is included in the recall, and it should make the replacement of any affected toe pieces as efficient as possible.
This recall applies to the following products:
Only products manufactured between May 1st 2022 and March 31st 2023 are concerned.
If you purchased your bindings prior to May 1st, 2022, you are not affected by this recall. Here is the procedure to follow depending on your situation:

If upon checking your bindings fall in one of the categories above, please bring your skis back the shop where you bought them or, if not possible, any Salomon retailer using the store locator.
The shop pro will check the serial number and if necessary, will replace the toe pieces at no charge. Reminder: Under no circumstances should you handle or dismount the bindings by yourself.

Under certain conditions, unexpected breakage of the spring guiding axis (indicated by the red pointers below) may occur, causing the ski boot to disconnect from the ski. Failure of the toe component may lead a skier to lose control, fall, or suffer injuries.
Consumers should immediately stop using these ski bindings and return them to any Salomon dealer. The dealer will determine if the binding is subject to the recall and, if yes, will replace the toe component free of charge.

We are glad that you like our bindings, however your safety is our primary concern. So please immediately stop using these ski bindings and have them verified by one of our dealers. They will tell you whether your bindings are subject to the recall or not.
Proof of purchase is not necessary in this case. Please bring your skis & bindings back to the shop where you bought them or, if not possible, any Salomon dealer using the store locator. In case of any problems, you may call our Consumer Service (contact details here under).
The retailer will check the serial number of your bindings. For this, they need to dismount one of the toe components from the ski. Then, there are 2 possibilities: - Your bindings are not part of the recall > The dealer will re-mount the toe component - Your bindings are part of the recall > the dealer will unscrew both toe components, and replace them at no charge.
No, only dealers should disassemble ski bindings. Under no circumstances should you try to alter or disassemble the bindings by yourself. That is why we kindly ask you to visit your Salomon dealer.
We have changed the manufacturing process and we have also reinforced our quality checks during and after production.
No, the process is free of charge.
As we replace toe components by new ones, these will be under warranty for 2 years starting from the replacement date. The rest of the binding (heels, brakes, etc) remains under the original warranty policy.
