Mike is the founder of the Boston Bulldogs, a running club for people in recovery or affected by addiction. He found in running what many can’t find when suffering from addiction: a way to define himself, a supporting community, as well as new goals to be set.
Once out of rehab for the 4th time, he decided he would no go back there. He had to redefine himself and find a personality that wasn’t being an addict. Creating a community was what helped Mike find purpose and truly help the recovering addicts he was running with.
In this new Après-Hour episode, Mike discusses what it means to be an addict trying to get back on track, how running can be more useful than antidepressants, and the importance of connecting with others. "Through connection, we heal and recover. Through isolation, we suffer."
